Young Bklyn: Art in Motion Exhibit at City Point Mall
On Saturday, June 7th, we celebrated the opening of the Young Bklyn: Art in Motion exhibit at City Point Mall in downtown Brooklyn. Co-curated by DMC Original Art and C.A.N.V.A.S Design Shop, the exhibit was created in partnership with the Brooklyn Children’s Museum to honor its 125th anniversary as the world’s first children’s museum.
The exhibit featured over 100 vibrant works of art created by youth from across Brooklyn. Many of the young artists participated in fluid art workshops facilitated by DMC Original Art in neighborhoods throughout Brooklyn. During these workshops, the children explored the fluid art technique—using acrylic paints and straws to create their masterpieces. For those who chose to use the straw, their own breath became their paintbrush, blending colors in expressive and unexpected ways.
Seeing the youth experiment with their breath to move and mix colors was truly inspiring. This simple yet powerful practice of color therapy became a language of its own, offering each participant a meaningful way to express themselves creatively.
The exhibit remained on display through June 14th, inviting the community to admire the incredible creativity of Brooklyn’s young artists alongside a selection of DMC Original Art.
A big thank you to our partners and sponsors—FOKUS, Brooklyn Org, Brooklyn Children’s Museum, and City Point Mall—for helping make this program possible.
Events like Young Bklyn: Art in Motion remind us how art can bring people together and leave a colorful, positive imprint on our community.
